About our Music Director:
Andrew Bucior, Jr. is a native of western Pennsylvania, where he attended the
University of Pittsburgh for both undergraduate and graduate studies in biology,
chemistry, and dental medicine. Additional professional certifications followed
in business management, human resources, safety, health, and environmental
management, and music performance.
Andy began his career in church music as a fourteen-year old substitute organist
for several churches in Johnstown, PA, until joining the staff of Westmont
United Presbyterian Church in 1968. In addition to serving as an organist or
organist/choirmaster for several denominations during the next fifteen years, a
secular musical career as a symphony violist, choral accompanist, and organ
recitalist was also a part of his life before moving to North Carolina to
further his primary career in apparel manufacturing. Andy joined the staff of
Sedgefield Presbyterian Church in September 1983, and has enjoyed his
involvement in the growth and development of the music program, including
several new musical ensembles, the addition of handbells, and the installation
of an outstanding new organ.
Andy and his wife Barbara have five "children" - Andrew III, Matthew, Sarah,
Benjamin, and Samuel. When not at the church, or working as the Manager of
Safety Assurance for VF Jeanswear, Andy's other interests include reading,
traveling, flying, sailing, woodworking, and model railroading.
